Franklin Roosevelt grew up here, and Eleanor came to call it home, too. But a little ways to the north lived another president, one from an earlier time: Martin Van Buren. Both men were proud of their Dutch heritage, and both their homes reward the visitor.

The Hudson Valley is home to gardens of every description, from classical flower gardens to a segmented cup garden, a high altitude alpine garden, and a majestic oriental inspiration. Beautiful, inventive, and inspiring for all, but especially for anyone who loves to get their hands in the soil.
